Commonwealth Law Conference 2013

One of the most prestigious events on the international legal calendar is the biennial Commonwealth Law Conference. In April 2013, judges, legal academics and practising lawyers from across the Commonwealth will meet in Cape Town, South Africa’s oldest and most beautiful city, to debate current issues affecting the rule of law, commercial law, legal practice and the profession at the 18th Commonwealth Law Conference.

The Conference will highlight the legal, socio-economic and commercial challenges faced by the legal profession in Commonwealth jurisdictions and provide an opportunity to exchange information and learn from this. Delegates from all Commonwealth countries will have an opportunity to network, exchange views, experiences and possible solutions in the breathtaking shadow of Cape Town’s Table Mountain – one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

The theme of the conference will reflect our increasingly globalising world and the challenges or opportunities this presents for lawyers in this age of technology; with particular emphasis on the rule of law and justice for all as beautifully articulated in the South African concept of “ubuntu”. As always, the conference presentations will focus on current trends in Corporate & Commercial Law; The Legal & Judicial Profession; Human Rights Law and other contemporary legal topics.

An exciting and truly unique programme of social and networking events has also been designed to ensure that all those who attend the conference will have an opportunity to meet colleagues from different jurisdictions, exchange experiences, renew and build friendships that will continue long after the closing ceremony.
