Asian economies are the world’s best at using information and communications technologies (ICT) to boost their growth, says a World Economic Forum report. But the credit for this international recognition primarily rests on the shoulders of a few nations such as Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea.
What about the rest-of-Asia? There is no perfect recipe for a citizen-centric e-governance model for any nation but the imperfections are stark and clear, especially in Asia. Mired by socio-economic disparities, Asia faces a unique-vicious challenge with regards to implementing an effective and successful ICT policy. The 6th Annual GovTech Asia 2012 conference will hence address the key question of balancing socio-economic development by bridging the ‘digital divide’ between the countless communities of the region.
