The Canadian Institute’s 2nd Annual Western Canadian Conference on The Law of Policing is designed to give you two days of up-to-date substantive law as well as practical advice on implementing it in your organization. Here are just a few topics included in this year’s agenda:
ü Effective risk management for police forces
ü Investigating police corruption, featuring an FBI case study that wowed the audience at our spring Toronto conference
ü An update on the domino effects from McNeil, including the challenges of finding roles for officers whose testimony may be impeached
ü Appropriate use of social media both in investigations and internally
ü Meeting the duty to accommodate in the police context
ü Top civil cases of the year, including negligent investigation, gross negligence, duty to warn and other causes of action
Speakers this year include Tom Stamatakis, Sheila Sullivan, SSA Robert Schwinger of the FBI as well as leading counsel representing plaintiffs, officers and police forces small and large.
