2010 has been a year of gradual revival for the PCB industry, after the consolidation period of 2008-2009 which saw the emergence of a leaner but stronger industry. Both production and consumption signs are now positive for renewed industry growth.

• Following 20 years of rapid growth, China’s PCB industry is increasing production by 25.33% annually, and is now the world's largest producer
• Large producers are again investing in new capacity as rising book-to-bill ratios signal increasing growth in demand
• China's 12th "5-year Plan" for 2011-2015 provides for the raising of technology standards in the PCB industry and speeding up the establishment of an electronics and integrated circuit centre of excellence
• China's demand for communication, computer and peripheral equipment and naturally consumer electronics is heavy. These three Cs account for more than 80% of China's PCB applications
• While China's economy continues to boom, and consumers are increasingly purchasing consumer electronics, mobile phones and computers; new electronic products, from tablet computers to more advanced phones, are hitting the market at an ever faster rate, ensuring that the PCB industry will see further growth in the coming years
• The trend towards low-carbon and energy-saving "green" products such as hybrid vehicles and LED lighting is also driving demand
