5th annual Aviation and Airport Security 2010

In 2010 the security environment has moved on a great deal from the aftermath of 9/11. While the memory of the terrorist atrocities subsides into the background, the focus on shaping and implementing crucial reforms and security improvements risks being lost.

The industry continues to face challenges across passenger facilitation, physical screening and clearance in an environment where there is a perennial drive to be profitable, safe, secure and compliant.

Industry participants have also expressed a high level of concern about the myriad issues surrounding regional airports and airlines. Baggage, cargo and passenger screening and the disparate risks across operations is an issue still to be fully explored, whilst staffing and training continue to present as elements of risk across the board.

Aviation and airport security stakeholders have an interest in focussing on the key risks and vulnerabilities to ensure budgets which are increasingly constrained by the GFC are used in the most beneficial manner.

The Aviation Business Asia Pacific Magazine’s 5th annual event has developed into a key forum for the discussion of these and other issues critical to the industry, bringing together leading representatives from across the industry and region.

In 2010, the event will focus on these areas:

* the regulatory changes arising from the National Aviation Policy Statement White Paper due to issue in December 2009
* cost of doing business and commercial issues affecting airport and airline operators, particularly in the regional areas
* latest technologies and methodologies for detection and prevention of security breaches in the airport and aviation industries
* other issues affecting the customer experience in a security context
