MATERIALS, MANUFACTURING AND TECHNOLOGY 2011

Materials, Manufacturing & Technology is the annual, premier, event of the global leather industry. Based in Hong Kong the exhibition serves as a hub for the leather business throughout all of Asia. It includes participation from southern China and, increasingly from the fast growing economies of India and south Asia. ‘If it’s got anything to do with leather, you’ll find it at MM&T.’

The show covers everything from raw hides, semi- and finished- leathers, tanning machinery, chemicals and dyes, CAD/CAM and businesses services. In 2009 MM&T attracted 1,039 exhibitors from 55 countries and regions and 16,851 visitors from 93 countries and regions.

MM&T is really the straight-line development of the original Hong Kong Leather Fair, the ‘grand-daddy’ of Asian leather fairs, inaugurated in 1976 and the first ever Hong Kong ‘Mega Fair’. In 2009, MM&T celebrated its 25th anniversary demonstrating the company’s ability to develop and adapt to what has become a fast changing industry.

The most profound change has been the integration of leather into the wider fashion industry. Today, MM&T carries comprehensive details of forthcoming seasonal colours, finishes and designs. At the same time, the character of the original event a quarter of a century ago, remains – namely, an unique opportunity to meet and greet, in person, face-to-face with potential customers and suppliers.
