Prof. Dr. Christian Laesser, professor of Tourism and Services Management at the University of St. Gallen, says, «The economic crisis will not leave the travel industry unscathed. But because people will now be spending their money more circumspectly due to rather limited expectations, they will also be travelling with more awareness.» The short trip to a distant land, just for fun, «will increasingly be at odds,» Laesser predicts. But the need for a holiday will remain – precisely because times are hard.
