China’s automobile industry has been developing into the golden period in recent years, with China growing as the largest automobile market in the world. However, the energy consumption and environmental pollution are posing serious problems. Consequently, China, even the whole world will address this pressing issue by seeking a solution to help reduce the energy consumption and environmental pollution. Since 1999, Chinese Government has successively launched a series of clean energy vehicle projects to encourage and support the R&D of green vehicle. With years’ efforts, China's research capacity on green vehicles is getting stronger. At present, there are about 30 provinces, municipal regions and municipalities in China promoting approximately 400,000 natural gas vehicles, constructing about 1,400 gas refueling stations, a relatively comprehensive industry chain has been formed. According to the National Programs, the amount of natural gas vehicles in China will reach 1,000,000 until 2012. China is becoming an extremely important NGV market in Asia-Pacific region, even in the world.
