The Allied Beauty Association (ABA) is a registered not-for-profit Canadian organization that represents more than 90% of the Canadian professional beauty supply industry with respect to hair and nails. It is a trade association of manufacturers and distributors of professional beauty products and equipment for the use of beauty salons and spas.
The ABA was formed in 1934 and incorporated in 1957. From its original membership of three Canadian manufacturers and two distributors, it has since grown to include more than 265 corporate members.
The ABA’s mandate is to provide support for its members, monitor industry standards and encourage goodwill, mutual respect and understanding between its members and the public. Additionally, the ABA’s role is to liaise between the beauty professionals and the government at federal, provincial and municipal levels.
To achieve part of this mandate with respect to beauty professionals, each year the ABA produces trade shows in eight major Canadian cities. These shows bring together the majority of Canada’s professional beauty industry suppliers and are consequently, the largest and most attended beauty trade shows in Canada. The ABA national show attendance averages more than 50,000 people annually.
As an additional draw for beauty professionals, the ABA provides a wide range of educational seminars featuring prominent speakers and educators from around the world. Between the ABA main stage presentations and classroom seminars, there is enough variety to satisfy even the most discerning beauty professional.
Most beauty industry insiders consider the ABA Shows to be the most important trade shows of the year. They deliver an international standard of education that would otherwise be unavailable to the average salon professional. The ABA also organizes an average of 45
