Brazilian British Centre

Inaugurated in 2000 with the presence of the Governor at the time Mário Covas, the Brazilian British Centre was built by the Cultura Inglesa São Paulo to bring together, under one roof, all the organisations and activities related to Culture, education, leisure and trade between Brazil and the United Kingdom, including the administrative headquarters of the Cultura Inglesa São Paulo. Designed by Botti Rubin Arquitetos Associados, the complex covers a total area of 13,000 square metres and is home currently to the Sala Cultura Inglesa Theatre with seating capacity for 160 people, four exhibition galleries, a library specialised in contemporary British literature, together with an Information Centre about the United Kingdom, a restaurant with capacity for up to 250 people, and meeting rooms for individuals and groups, and the following institutions: the British Consulate General, the British Chamber of Commerce, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), the British Council, The Visit Britain and the British Commonwealth Community Council.
