Strategies to improve CBA technologies and access to in vivo models for R&D

• Keynote Speakers
Gareth Wayne, Martin Augustin,Cath Eberlain, Alla Zaltsman,Simon Ellison, Kalpana Patel,Dominik Schelshorn and many more.

Cell Based Assays (CBA) investigate the in vivo properties and effects of a drug molecule due to the cells ability to replicate normal processes that would occur in the body. With the cost of developing a new drug for market launch estimated to be over $1bn1, this method of drug testing has the potential to save pharmaceutical companies millions through "fail early" techniques. These allow companies to detect any adverse effects that may occur in human cells that may not have been detected in animal cells. This can limit the chances of a medication failing in late stage clinical testing.

By attending this conference you will:
• Assess the market growth available for CBA, what challenges face companies looking to expand their use of CBA technologies
• Investigate key techniques to solve toxicity problems earlier (“fail early” approach)
• Review advantages of CBA over Biochemical Assays
• Examine how to improve consistency and reproducibility of these tests
• Explore the advancements in 3D cell technology and why it’s preferential to 2D testing
• Discover the different types of cells available for use in CBA
• Acquiring new cells – availability of stem cells and diversity of uses
• Assays using stem cells – new developments and sites available for cell procurement and testing
• Review ethical and regulatory issues facing CBA
• Discover new technologies for labeled and non-labeled detection in CBA
