Clinical Placements 2014

As the demand driven system continues in the university sector,
institutions are struggling to find clinical placements at the rate of
enrolment. This hike in enrolments has led to an unprecedented
pressure on both universities and health system budgets. The
current system is reliant on existing grace and favour relationships
and lacks structured interface between health and education to
increase capacity.

Under the pressures of rapid growth and recent national reforms
in health and education the clinical training environment remains
complex and unstable. Health and education providers need to
renew efforts to build cross sector systems and processes that
can reduce uncertainty; and to measure the diverse ways in which
clinical placement partnerships deliver benefits.
