The world of treasury management in Japanese businesses has changed since EuroFinance last came to Tokyo in 2008. The financial crisis created a global recession that compounded the economy’s pre-existing difficulties, stifling export markets as mature economies went into reverse and emerging markets slowed down.

On top of the business pressures are regulatory changes that may have a profound effect on the way banks are able to offer finance to their
corporate clients, as well as new accounting rules that will affect how companies are required to report their results and which may have a
significant impact on their hedging strategies.

And then there is the onward march of globalisation which is encouraging companies to adopt more centralised oversight and control,
rather than relying on regionalised treasury functions.

Businesses are responding to all these challenges – through new trading and finance models, new working practices and new technology. Our conference explores the most important issues that are affecting senior financial managers in Japanese companies today, taking a global perspective that provides the strategic insights necessary in these changing times.
