The Fisheries industry probably is one of the fastest food-producing sectors in Oman, valued at around RO 104 million and contributing around 0.5 per cent of the nation’s GDP. Despite being seen as one of the most promising sectors, there is a need to address vital issues related to the sector such as; supply, shortage of skilled fishermen, comprehensible regulatory framework and policies and development of modern facilities. This, in fact, would support the sector improve quality and production and other related concerns, which hinder the sector’s growth.

From this standpoint, OITE Conferences is pleased to present the first Oman Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference which will take place on the 16th - 17th January 2012 in Muscat. The Conference aims to enable concerned government organisations, stakeholders and experts to discuss and exchange innovative ideas on how to transform the country’s fishing sector and to explore opportunities and potentials in aquaculture farming. It will also provide delegates insight into modern trends, best practices, latest developments on projects and their impact on the industry as well as emerging business and investment opportunities.
