June 15 - 17, 2011    Singapore , Singapore
With 90% of the world’s international trade being transported by sea, shipping is the life blood of the global economy and there is a growing scrutiny of its environmental impact. Key players however, are still debating the best way forward to prepare shipping for this new world of environmental limits.

Over 50% of the world’s fleet is owned or operated in Asia, along with 85% of global shipbuilding capacity. The Asian maritime industry is expected to play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which are responsible for climate change.

The industry currently accounts for three to four percent of global CO2 emissions, a figure which will rapidly increase as Asian economies expand and trade between them increases.

With the central theme focus of “Preparing the Asian Fleet for a New World of Environmental Limits”, the Asian Green Shipping Summit this 15 – 17 June 2011 in Singapore will bring together regulators, ship owners, ship builders, designers and technologists from across the continent and beyond, to discuss the key issues of measuring and reducing the industry’s carbon footprint, and measures to comply with upcoming regulations.

From retrofitting to recycling, the entire ship life cycle will be looked at, along with next generation ship design and new build technology investments.

Hear from policy makers and international proponents of Green Shipping, along with ship owners and managers, as well as technology leaders and industry experts at the Asia Green Shipping Summit 2011 – THE platform for shipping stakeholders to evaluate current challenges and solutions available to meet the environment challenge!
