It is expected that the UK's share of the world's space economy will grow from 6.5% to 10% by 2030. By today's estimates that would give the UK sector a 40 billion per year of turnover, creating 100,000 new jobs mainly in SMEs and supporting sectors.

On 25 June 2015, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers will be launching its first ever report on the theme of space as a response to the UK Space Strategy.

Smart Satellites: Investing in the UK Space Economy will focus on the research and development, technology and engineering that will be required to meet the space challenge and how society can actually benefit from its implementation.

To coincide with the launch of the report, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, this seminar will address the following key themes:

Upstream and downstream applications
Education and skills within the space sector
The benefits of investing in the UK space sector
