August 15 - 16, 2015    Chiang Mai , Thailand
he involvement of ethnic communities in tourism has long been developed. ASEAN countries generally have a wide range of ethnic groups and cultures that they can promote to attract tourists. Thus, Ethnic tourism has been seen as a means to facilitate economic and cultural development to communities in peripheral regions and to assist in the preservation of ethnic heritage. Ethnic tourism lead to local development, stimulate a sense of pride in ethnic communities and help to strengthen and preserve ethnic identity in the changing world. However, tourism as a vehicle for development often facilitates socio-cultural changes to host communities as well.

Centre for ASEAN studies and Centre for Tourism Studies and Academic Services realize that there has been a limited number of research and studies on tourism and ethnicity. Therefore, the International Conference on Tourism and Ethnicity is organised to stimulate research and studies relevant to the studies of tourism and ethnicity.
