In his painting, he strongly uses realistic approach and developing a theme of social reality in Javanese society. Soetopo which is the apprentice of Hendra Gunawan, Trubus, and Soedarso in many times paint activity in the market, houses and a woman. For example Bakul Burung (2012), Penjual Pisang(2012), Penjual Ayam (2012), Penjual Mainan (2012), Petan (2014). Kerokan (2014), Pasar Burung (2014). Besides painting, Soetopo also known as a sculptor which is developed when he spend many times with Hendra Gunawan in Sanggar Pelukis Rakjat in 1947. Soetopo could be reflected in his painting which tell us about his down to earth personality
