June 26 - 27, 2014    Perth , Australia
Dates have been confirmed for Australia's very first Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in the Resources Industry Conference. The event is set to take place on the 26-27 June 2014 at the Hyatt Regency, Perth.

About the event:

The use of UAVs - or drones - in the mining and oil/gas industries is increasing as new applications are discovered and developed.

Enormous potential exists to roll out this technology across mine sites and resources projects all over Australia. UAVs are a fraction of the cost of piloted aircraft, and mining and resource companies are utilising UAVs to avoid downtime during infrastructure surveys and assessments. The next frontier will be the use of UAVs for exploration, and there are already advances taking place in this area.

Just some of the potential for UAV use in the mining and petroleum industries include (and will be addressed at the conference):

Inspection of fixed plant and to get a better analysis of potential shutdown for repair
Stockpile volume modelling
Aerial surveying and mapping of mine sites
Monitor for any subsidence above or adjacent to underground mines
Thermal monitoring of coal stockpiles
Pit mapping for highwalls, pit walls and development faces
Surveying and monitoring offshore oil/gas infrastructure
New uses for aerial real time truck management, site and remote infrastructure monitoring, and machinery tracking
Remove risk and increase safety for site personnel
Monitor the performance of mine tailings facilities And much more
