November 7 - 8, 2014    Bangkok , Thailand
The International Advisory Board is pleased to announce the Call For Papers for the Spaces and Flows: Fifth International Conference on Urban and ExtraUrban Studies to be held 7-8 November 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand and in partnership with the School of Architecture and Design at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.

The Spaces and Flows Conference addresses some of the most pressing and concerning socio-spatial questions of our times and studies the reality of growing socioeconomic polarization and widening socio-spatial cleavages. Discussions focus on spaces and flows as crucibles of ongoing transformation. In this context, we address two central issues:

As communities, regions, and societies organize and re-organize, what are the new and emerging spaces of human production, consumption, and living?

What are the new flows of people, goods, services, information, and ideas in current times?

CONFERENCE THEMES:
In addition to a special focus, proposals for paper presentations, workshops, focused discussions, poster sessions, or colloquia are invited which discuss the broader conference themes listed below. Paper presentations will be grouped into one of the following categories for presentation at the conference:

Theme 1: Urban and Extraurban Spaces
Theme 2: Human Environments and Ecosystemic Effects
Theme 3: Material and Immaterial Flows
Special Focus: Chaos and Creativity in Global Space

If you are unable to attend the conference, you may still join the community and submit your article for peer review and possible publication, upload an online presentation, and enjoy subscriber access to Spaces and Flows: An International Journal of Urban and Extra Urban Studies.
