The Universe of Pre-filled Syringes & Injection Devices 2013

Providing value and compliance is the theme of this year’s event. Multiple stakeholders like doctors, patients or payors are demanding enhanced patient adherence and differentiated drugs as values to be demonstrated for new product launches, in particular in areas with an existing standard of care. The pharmaceutical industry starts looking beyond the blockbuster model to provide such value with innovations also in the area of drug delivery. For parenterals many of those innovations will be combinations of the drug and an advanced application system. Prefilled syringes and injection devices have a sterling record to create such value and will continue to do so. Some of the new device technologies foster the demand for advanced operational processes. Biologics and vaccines create their own new sets of delivery needs in terms of drug container stability and volumes or viscosity.
