What do you want to see pre-YAPC?

Traditionally, before or after YAPC there have been workshops on various topics such as Moose, Catalyst, or just Intro to Perl. Sometimes, instead or in addition, there is a hackathon.

Sometimes there is a social event of some kind to welcome the early arrivals. This could be as simple as a dinner or a more complicated activity such as a brewery tour or some other tourist type attraction.

The first of these activities is the first annual YAPC Hair-Off. Perl has a long tradition of great facial hair from Larry Wall’s impressive mustache to my pointy beard to MST’s mutton chops. Not everyone can grow beards and mustaches though, so we’re going to include any kind of hair (on your head). There will likely be room for people with wigs and fake beards, as well as pinch-bearders! We’ll post the rules to the contest as YAPC approaches, but for now, if you want to participate, get out the miracle grow and sharpen the hedge trimmers. Prepare your hair for YAPC.
