World Diabetes Congress (WDC) 2013

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is pleased to announce that the 2013 World Diabetes Congress (WDC) will be held in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) in Melbourne, Australia, from 2 to 6 December 2013. This is the second time in the IDF's 60-year history that the premier event for the diabetes field will be held in the Western Pacific Region, which has the largest percentage of undiagnosed cases and the highest number of deaths attributable to diabetes.

According to Sir Michael Hirst, President-Elect of the International Diabetes Federation “Melbourne will provide a perfect backdrop to inspire global actions and agreements to act on diabetes and help safeguard the health of future generations.”

The IDF World Diabetes Congress brings together the whole diabetes community attracting over 12,000 scientists, health professionals, health ministers, policy-makers, industry, media, and people with diabetes and provides a global platform to share knowledge, the results of the leading scientific advances and practical aspects related to diabetes care, education and advocacy.

Over 350 speakers and 70 exhibitors will be given the platform to showcase their diabetes expertise, research and breakthroughs in the field of diabetes. Participants include educate physicians, scientists, nurses, educators, endocrinologists, diabetologists, research scientists and other healthcare professionals, as well as government representatives, policy makers, people with diabetes, representatives from IDF member associations and members of the press.

The biennial event will focus on a strong scientific program combined with debates, teaching lectures, workshops and presentations on the latest trends and discoveries in the field of Diabetes.
