The Indonesian telecommunications market still has significant growth potential as unique mobile phone ownership was still only 47% at the end of 2009. The market is also experiencing double digit growth in fixed broadband line usage and triple digit growth in wireless broadband usage. Competition among the market's eleven wireless operators still ensures that service providers are offering increasingly new and innovative services, and smartphone adoption is increasing at a healthy pace. However, Indonesia's telecom operators will have to continue to explore new business models and technologies to deliver wireless broadband services profitably.
