The world has changed tremendously over the past 30 years. In a few short decades, we have found ourselves in a digital age where we can obtain information, share knowledge or communicate with anyone in the world at the speed of light; we have welcomed a new century and most especially, a new millennium.

Nowhere has change been more evident than in the field of reproductive medicine. When Professor Seang Lin Tan began his career thirty years ago, IVF was in, so to speak, its infancy. The conception and birth of Louise Brown heralded a revolution in assisted human reproduction and, since then, several million IVF babies have been born around the world.

Mentored by Professors Robert Edwards, Stuart Campbell and Howard Jacobs, world-renowned pioneers in the field of reproductive medicine, Professor Tan co-founded the London Women’s Clinic with them in 1992 and throughout his career, has helped to perpetuate their legacy of innovation. After moving to McGill University in Montreal to assume the positions of James Edmund Dodds and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University and Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief at the McGill University Health Centre, he founded McGill Reproductive Centre in 1996 and has served as Medical Director ever since. Under his leadership, the Centre has become internationally recognized as a leader in research and the development of cutting-edge treatments such as in-vitro maturation (IVM) and fertility preservation.
