The 2012 Montagna Symposium, Keeping It All Together: Adhesion, the Cytoskeleton and Signaling in Morphogenesis and Tissue Function, will explore the role played by cell adhesion and signaling in the structure and function of skin and the pathogenesis of numerous diseases, including cancer, vascular disease, autoimmune and inherited disorders of the skin, and wound healing. Topics to be addressed include intercellular junctions unique to skin; cell-cell adhesion and cell-matrix adhesion in signaling and disease; gap junctions and tight junctions in epidermis; cell motility; polarity; cadherins; integrins - diseases and interactions; and intermediate filaments.
