32nd Annual UC Davis Current Concepts in Primary Care Cardiology

This course is directed to primary care providers who wish to increase their knowledge and application of current practice in common cardiovascular diseases.

This year’s four-day conference will specifically address these identified educational needs and provide practitioners with state-of-the-art tools to provide improved treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience, academic excellence, and presentation
skills.

The program will focus on practical aspects of all the aforementioned subjects for application in daily practice that is founded on evidence-based medicine tailored to the individual patient. Throughout the course, there will be ample opportunity for interaction with the faculty in both formal and informal settings.

At the end of the program, participants should be able to:
• Apply methods to prevent the appearance of cardiac risk factors
• Treat patients with atrial fibrillation
• Manage cardiac risk factors for coronary artery disease
• Distinguish between those patients who require medical therapy vs revascularization
• Evaluate symptoms of cardiac disease specific to women
• Utilize techniques of stress reduction
• Recognize the indications for an echocardiogram
• Manage patients with valvular heart disease
• Detect the etiology and apply therapy for palpitations
