The Italian Society of Hypertension (SIIA) was formed in 1983 in Bologna as a natural evolution of the Italian Study Group of the 'Hypertension.
To better meet the growing expectations of the medical and research, the Company, since its inception, has set itself the goal of becoming a landmark in the national and international issue of hypertension.
The emergence of this scientific society is indeed the natural evolution and transformation of the Study Group which was founded in Perugia in 1974 by a small number of researchers and clinicians including Professors Alberto Zanchetti, Antonio Salvetti, and lamented Cesare From Palù Bartorelli Cesare, Giulio Muiesan and Savior Campus. The Study Group, consisting of about 100 researchers from all over Italy, met in a very informal once a year to enable older youth to present the results of their research.
The group was headed by a triumvirate that had essentially the task of preparing the scientific program of the annual meeting.
