The Eco-Products Exhibition is one of the largest environmental exhibitions in Japan, drawing more than 180,000 business people and consumers interested in environmental issues.

The Eco-Products Exhibition was launched in 1999 in order to publicize eco-products and to realize an environment-friendly society. Awareness of the global environment, efforts, products and service methods in both society and industry have changed substantially. The scale and business types at the exhibition have also widely expanded. Companies show the innovative technologies and solutions for business, or appeal their products to consumers including children as the future consumers. The national and local governments, NPOs, NGOs, and educational institutes introduce their activities and examples to solve environmental issues.

Japan’s situation in these two years truly is in need of urgent solutions for energy and power supply issues. Japan is now being closely watched by the rest of the world as to how we will rebuild ourselves from here. However, if we can show them a brighter future that waits for us, it would also lead to a brighter future for the world.

Japan’s exceptional environmental/energy technologies also play important roles in reducing environmental burdens on a global scale and developing a sustainable economy. Technologies that the Eco-Products Exhibition has been showing such as smart communities, natural energy-related technologies, eco houses, eco vehicles, energy saving appliances, etc., will be the keys to innovations.

The theme for Eco-Products 2012 is “The Greener, The Smarter -The Future we will choose daily.” We must choose what is necessary for the new future and incorporate them into our lives and societies. “Accumulation” of such actions is more important now than ever. Japan has a great number of exceptional technologies and know-how involving environment and energy, most of which can be seen in this exh
