ISTANBUL BOOK FAIR 2012

Organized by TÜYAP Fair and Exhibition Organization, Inc. in association with the Publishers Association of Turkey, the 31st International Istanbul Book Fair will be held between November 17 and 25, 2012, at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center, Büyükçekmece.

Netherlands has been chosen the Country of Honor of the 31st International Istanbul Book Fair. Commemorating the 400th anniversary of relations between Turkey and Netherlands, Dutch culture and literature will be presented and discussed in a variety of interviews, panel discussions, illustration workshops, professional meetings and an exhibition in the International Hall between November 17 and 20, 2012.

15 Dutch publishers will take part
In addition to the Dutch National Pavilion that will be available for visiting in the International Hall between November 17 and 20, an additional 15 publishers of children’s and youth literature as well as general literature will take part in the fair.

Dutch publishers will meet with their Turkish counterparts to improve collaboration between the two countries and increase the number of translated works in both languages.

Contemporary Dutch literature at TÜYAP
Known extensively among academics, researchers and university students in Turkey, Erik Jan Zürcher will be an interview guest as part of the Dutch events during the book fair.

Another distinguished guest of the fair is Henk Boom, one of the leading names in contemporary Dutch literature who is known to his Turkish readership with his book on Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

Kader Abdollah, a writer of Iranian origin who lives and writes in the Netherlands is also among the guests of the fair.

Dutch theme: Children’s and Youth Literature
