Missiles are indispensible in modern warfare, as it provides military with the ability to attack and defend from long distances. Due to its importance, militaries are constantly looking for new development for missile systems and technologies.

The design-integration is important in missile systems, however, engineers are also required to work with reliable methodologies in predicting missile lifecycle performance. The task of predicting missile shelf life and its performance is highly complex. The challenges in accomplishing the task includes the lack of quality data, identifying suitable reliability methodologies to predict missile lifecycle at different stages of shelf life, and reviewing the suitability of predictive models.

The complexity of this task is viewed as high, as it involves the prediction throughout missile lifecycle performance. Some models are better suited for initial or design phase of missile, while some can better predict the operational performance throughout missile’s shelf life. Most importantly, militaries have to identify techniques to predict the shelf life of the missile systems in order to derive accurate results. For shelf life prediction, generally engineers have to put missile systems to accelerated stress testing to determine the estimated operating life of its systems.

With the complexity in missile reliability analysis, we present a MRA course to further enhance engineers’ understanding on the use of different models used across different lifecycle of missile systems.
