Jakarta will once again host the 6th Indonesia’s No. 1 Official Fire Protection, Rescue and Safety Industry Event - Indo Firex 2011 Expo & Forum from 14 - 16 July 2011 at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta - Indonesia.
Rapid construction coupled with more public activities at high-rises throughout the city will be the last straw, breaking the capital's already lax fire safety systems, says an expert. According to data from the fire department, 70 percent of the fires that occurred this year (2009) took place in residential areas, while 30 percent blazed high-rises. The department recorded 819 fires last year (2008), which killed 14 people and caused USD 22,86 million in losses.(source www.thejakartapost.com).
