Conference Theme: The Linguistics of Rhetoric and Debate

This is a preliminary announcement for the 59th Annual Conference of the International Linguistic Association to be held May 22 through 24, 2014 at the Université de Paris II-Panthéon-Assas. Topic: The Linguistics of Rhetoric and Debate. Invited speakers are: Jonathan Webster (Halliday Centre and Managing Editor of Word); Olivier Bertrand, (Université de Cergy-Pontoise and member of the LDI); with a team presentation in French of English Debates led by Kathryn English (Université de Paris II, Panthéon-Assas) and Declan Mc Cavana (Ecole Polytechnique). Papers invited on all areas of Linguistics; abstracts in English or French. Special panels may be organized upon request. Conference co-Chairs: Kathleen O’Connor-Bater and Kathryn English.
