Argentina is said to hold the world's third largest shale reserves behind the US and China. It is believed that La Vaca Muerta could hold up to 22.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

The pace of development has been much slower than in US shale plays due to logistical challenges. Drilling sites are isolated, and service providers have to work closely with operators to develop plans together. All companies active in this play have to plan their operations very carefully as proppant and spare parts are limited and must be imported. Fracking costs are much higher than in US shale plays like the Eagle Ford, where the same equipment might perform as many as six stages per day.

Infocast, the leader in oil and gas business conferences is proud to present the Frac Supply Chain Summit: Argentina, in Buenos Aires, April 17-18, 2013. Following the immense success of our Proppants Summits, this ground-breaking summit will allow Argentine E&P operators to meet with supply chain service providers including rail, trucking, and logistics. In addition, leading suppliers of proppants, oil field chemicals and minerals, and experts from the oilfield services industry will be there to build the critical relationships needed for a stable supply chain, supporting Argentina’s growing unconventional oil and gas industry.
