The IMEX-GMIC Green Meetings - Future Leaders Forum will take place in February 2012 at the Sustainable Meetings Conference.
The IMEX-GMIC Green Meetings - Future Leaders Forum took place on 20-23 February 2011 at the Sustainable Meetings Conference in DoubleTree, Portland.
30 students attended the Forum. The day's programme was designed to to increase students' understanding of sustainable event operations from a venue, hotel and destination's perspective. Also to give students contextual knowledge of driving business trends and the future of sustainability in the meetings industry.
Several interactive round table sessions took place on topics including waste management, sustainable food and beverage procurement and community partners stakeholder requirements for venues and destinations. Thanks goes to the DoubleTree Hotel for the back of house tour that gave students an insight into sustainable hotel practices in a real business scenario.
