International Claims Convention 2011

Following the success of our past International Claims Convention 2010, The Malaysian Insurance Institute will set the stage for the International Claims Convention 2011 (ICC 2011) in Kuala Lumpur, with the bold theme “Competitive Advantage through Effective Claims Management”. It will be held on 4 – 5 April 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The patterns of chaos and magnitude of catastrophe events in our world today have created an ever-changing and evolving claims environment. According to an article, generally 60% of the premium dollar coming in goes out to claims while the profit is about 5% only. How do we address this issue? Can we just depend on the existing claims system to deter inconsistent payments, overpayments, claims leakages, poor claims servicing and so forth? Or should we adopt a holistic approach in claims management? Is this approach practical for all varied levels of capacity to boost the bottom line further?

The two-day convention will look at the changing environment that brings the unpredictable challenges to the insurance industry in managing claims, capital adequacy and solvency. It will look from both domestic and regional context which allow us to re-examine the appropriate operating model for future claims.
