The New York Times Travel Show 2011

Even the massive snow storm that hit the New York area on February 26 could not hold back travelers from attending The New York Times Travel Show, and from buying a record number of trips. More than 16,000 interested travelers and industry professionals attended this year’s Travel Show, which hosted more than 600 registered exhibitors from every region of the world, in a sold-out exhibition hall.

Exhibitors reported record numbers of inquiries and bookings, as well as an increased level of “readiness to travel.” Comments from exhibitors included: “The show has grown into the premier event”; “Saturday was absolutely extraordinary”; “A great experience for our company”; “Exceeded our expectations”; “We could feel that visitors to the Show were ready to travel again”; and “Even with a record snowfall in NYC, we were overwhelmed with interested New Yorkers.” (Please see below for the full quotes.)

The Show also presented the largest Travel Industry Conference for the trade with more than 75 speakers covering every important industry issue in 34 targeted conference sessions. More than 500 travel professionals braved their way through 20-inches of snow to attend the Conference and learn about the latest advances that will benefit the travel industry. They were joined by thousands of travel professionals who visited the Exhibition and the Travel Industry reception afterward on the Show floor.

As announced at the 2010 Show, the dates for the 2011 show are currently planned for February 25th through the 27th in the Jacob K. Javits Center
