In continuation of last year’s initiative, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India is organizing the second India Pharma Summit on 30th November 2010 in Mumbai, in partnership with FICCI and UBM. This summit provides a platform to identify opportunities and challenges for the Global Pharma Industry and explore synergies with India.

Pharmaceutical Industry in India is one of the largest and the most advanced among the developing countries. India today ranks 3rd in terms of volume and 14th in value in the sector. With 70% of the country's demand for drugs, pharmaceutical formulations and vaccines being met by Indian pharmaceutical industry, it is truly aligned to National Priority of Healthcare for All. Today, India offers cost effective R&D options and its potential for contract research is significant with 35% of contract research revenue coming from drug discovery and 65% from clinical research and trials.
