Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
This 2-day workshop is both didactic and experiential. You need to have attended at least one introductory ACT workshop (with any ACT trainer) before attending this one.
Day one will focus on the use of ACT with depressed, multi-problem, and suicidal clients.
Day two will focus on the use of ACT with anxiety disorders, PTSD, chronic pain, substance abuse, anger and grief.
In this workshop, you will learn:
• How to easily conceptualise cases using the ACT model
• How to effectively utilise ACT with depression, suicidality, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, anger and grief
• How to get 'unstuck' when therapy is not progressing
• How ACT can help you cope with the stresses of difficult clients and prevent 'burnout'
• How to effectively handle suicide threats, and make more accurate suicide risk assessments
• How to motivate clients who seem resistant to change
• Mindfulness with traumatic memories
• A variety of new and powerful metaphors
• Experiential exercises in forgiveness and compassion
• New cognitive defusion techniques
• New mindfulness techniques
• The use of 'nightmare rehearsal' for PTSD
You will receive:
• Articles, protocols, and research on the clinical use of ACT
• Detailed handouts covering a wide array of useful ACT interventions.
• A variety of useful client handouts and worksheets
• A CD recording of Mindfulness Skills: Volume 2
