In place of mandated guidelines and criteria, the BRC audit requires manufacturers to justify its programs policies and procedures by conducting risk assessments of the hazards associated with its processing environment and ingredients. There are a total of 27 clauses in the BRC audit that require risk assessments. Failure to provide evidence of conducting this critical analysis may result in failure to achieve certification.
