Introduction to Research and Development, Shared Service Opportunities and Funding for UK Companies in Lithuania

Today Lithuania appears on the global investment map as a not-to-miss location for international business expansion. This seminar will provide an introduction to research and development opportunities and funding for UK companies in Lithuania.
Senior speakers from Invest Lithuania and CCBaltic Ltd will provide an insight into the research infrastructure in Lithuania, the financial support and tax incentives available to UK companies and share information on local law and labour markets.
Lithuania is increasingly being seen as a prime location for international companies looking to establish R&D and outsourcing operations. In the past few months a range of companies including Barclays Bank, Western Union, IBM and Fisher Scientific have announced major investments in Lithuania.

These companies have been attracted by Lithuania’s high levels of spoken English, EU membership, quality of local universities and the fastest internet speeds in Europe. Lithuania is also easily accessible from the UK with direct flights to Vilnius and Kaunas from a number of UK airports and companies can benefit from EU structural funds to support the development of R&D and business infrastructure (e.g. The Lithuanian Government has committed over €1bn to the development of five science commercialisation centres).

The country also has a business friendly environment, low wage costs and is a great place to live and visit (the capital Vilnius was ranked as one of the best cities in the world to live (2010 Quality of Life Index))
