Daily 4th - 6th May. - 3 x 2 hour hands-on workshops participating in building a unique Dry Stone Wall at the great venue of Southwark Cathedral. 10am-12noon; 12-30pm - 2-30pm; 3pm - 5pm. London School of Dry Stone Walling are running these participation workshops as a practical introduction to the heritage and the craft, of building walls using natural stone without mortar. In addition, you also receive descriptive handouts and brochures packed with information regarding the construction of dry stone walls. You will also see an example of a Gabion and their use as a raised flower bed. At the end of the workshops you will: - be able to safely and confidently set out and construct a dry stone wall, - understand DSW heritage and terminology used, - distinguish various stone shapes, material and it's uses. We provide free for the workshop:- all materials, equipment, tools, eye protection, gloves, personal facilities, and a 'Certificates of Participation' Ensure you wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout safety footwear and bring packed lunches where required. All our trainers are certificated by the Dry Stone Walling Association. These practical, outdoor workshops are an inspiration for: DIY and enthusiasts and other interested persons.
