Course Facilitator Profile

The course facilitator has more than 30 years’ global experience in all aspects of pipeline and structural integrity, encompassing cathodic protection, corrosion control, material selection, protective coatings, inspection technologies and risk assessment. More recent experience includes integrity monitoring, failure analysis and pipeline integrity issues.

The course facilitator holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics and physical chemistry. He is also a Fellow of the British Institute of Corrosion, a NACE Corrosion Specialist, and a member of the British Royal Society for Chemistry.

Notable recent efforts include work on the Independence Hub project in the Gulf of Mexico, integrity assessments and surveys for some 1,600 kilometers of oil and natural gas pipelines throughout Mexico for PEMEX, and technical assistance with the preparation of a Corrosion Control Strategy for BP Alaska's North Slope operations.

The author of 18 technical articles and 31 conference papers, he has also delivered invited lectures at international institutes on topics of laser diagnostic techniques, hydrocarbon combustion, pollutant formation and pipeline integrity. He also is a former technical advisor to Gulf Publishing Company, assisting with the translation of “Handbook of Cathodic Corrosion Control” from German to English, and member of the original INGAA-Battelle team that developed the Direct Assessment methodology.
