Together institutes and centres cover a wide range of research fields and educational opportunities. Every faculty consists of several institutes, where the institutes have a noticeable academic and economic independence and responsibility within the scope of the Dean.

At each institute the Dean appoints a head of institute. The person in question must be an acknowledged researcher and have teaching experience within one of the subject areas of the institute.

To promote and make communication and knowledge exchange visible the faculties cooperate with various external parties. These activities are organised in so-called centres.

The centres serve to promote special purposes in research, education or knowledge exchange.

A centre is established through a contract or a project with one or more external parties. The purpose and function of the centre is determined in collaboration with the faculty and the external parties involved. The centre’s tasks are established through an action plan for a given operational period.
