June 20 - 24, 2011
A safe and healthy work environment is the basic right of every worker in any industry. However, the global situation falls far short of this right. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimates that more than 125 million workers are victims of occupational accidents and disease in a single year. Of these approximately 220,000 workers die and about 10 million are seriously disabled. The situation is grim in the Third World. About 75 percent of the global workforce lives and works in Third World countries, which have so many serious problems like poverty and unemployment that the status of health and safety is very low.

With the successful integration of health and safety regulations and guidance into corporate policies, many workplaces have achieved significant improvements in the overall health and safety performance. This success has largely been a result of focusing on safe systems of work, incorporating the appropriate tools and equipment into the work environment and encouraging more rigorous compliance management. By addressing these issues, management would better understand and manage their safety and health challenges accordingly at specific levels.

This training provides participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue and promote occupational safety and health in their workplace. The course will be :

• Over a period of 5 days

• Interactive in nature (lectures, video presentations, group work, role playing exercise)
