EACTA is delighted to announce that the 26th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists will take place in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria from 1 - 4 June 2011.
The aim of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists (EACTA) is to be the European forum for international scientific discussions and exchange of ideas on all aspects of anaesthesia for cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery including cardiopulmonary bypass, critical care, postoperative pain relief and trans-oesophageal echocardiography. In addition, EACTA aims to promote education and development throughout these fields. For these reasons EACTA:
* Awards funds for scientific scholarships and research.
* Promotes a high standard of scientific presentation at its annual meeting.
* Publishes selected abstracts of papers presented at its annual meetings in the Journal of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia.
* Funds cross-border educational visits to centres of excellence.
* Supports international exchange of ideas beyond Europe by organising or participating in meetings around the world on cardiovascular and thoracic anaesthesia.
* Advises the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Acts on cardiopulmonary bypass.
* Organises an annual meeting on transoephageal echocardiography (TOE).
* Jointly with the European Association of Echocardiography provides accreditation and certification in TOE.
